Oh NO! Part Two

Here are some more handy kitchen substitutions:

  • Although Allspice is it's own berry/spice, you can mix 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon plus 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, and it will taste pretty darn close.
  • You can also make a pretty fine chili sauce with 1 cup tomato sauce, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, dash of ground cloves and dash of allspice.
  • Need white wine in a dish? (Did your MIL drink it all?) Just substitute the same amount of white grape juice, or even apple juice!
  • If you used all the tomato juice for Bloody Marys, or, need to make more, Just mix equal parts of water and tomato sauce.
  • If you're in the middle of making a mayo-based salad, and realized your hubby just used the last drop- just use the same amount of yogurt or sour cream.
Happy cooking!
